Wednesday, May 26th, 2021 is the AARP / Senior Planet celebration of a special Health and Fitness Day.
Why not join other baby boomers across this ZOOM’ed land for FREE Morning Stretches, Fitness workouts, and informational sessions about wearable fitness devices? If you’re like me – you believe that ATTITUDE is a great way to influence our encore years – Right?
Bring your anti-aging Attitude on ANY day that ends in a “Y“! You just might improve your vital Waist to Hip Ratio (WtHR), sleep better, and love the one you’re with as honorary boomer Stephen Stills sang…
As you might have heard in recent BLOG posts, Bo Derek
and Olympic legend Dan Gable
are darned serious about thriving and striving into their 90s! Let’s get serious TOO!
We know that social activities can promote healthy encore lifestyles and longevity. Think dancing, pickleball, and crew (rowing) yup…
KABOOMER also addresses MANOPAUSE condition with the acronym A D A M for an unhealthy condition that too many gents in my boomer generation suffer.
As I wrote on page 98 of KABOOMER:
“Wither not on your uber-important strength journey to party past 90 years young.”
And then on page 251,
“all of us should produce “T” until we stop breathing, though in diminished levels as we age…”
We want all KABOOMERS to be normal or better PRODUCERS!
I share my KABOOMER bad-boy list about ADAM so that you can readily compare that to Simon’s natural BIGBOY checklist @ Testosteronerd.com.
Here are 16 danger signs and possible ADAM symptoms:
Adverse changes in physical appearance
Body fat gain, particularly abdominal weight gain
Loss of lean muscle tissue
Loss of hair
Wrinkling and drying of the skin
Poor sleep quality or insomnia
Decreased libido, possible erectile dysfunction (ED)
Hot flashes (yup), blushing, and sweating
Aches and pains
Mental functions decline
Nervousness, anxiety, and irritability
You undoubtedly grasp how ADAM (aka Andropause or Manopause) can adversely impact one’s quality of life. If one lets it DROP.
Circling back to Simon’s counterpunches – Go Natural, as far and fast as you can, IF your regular LAB readings for Testosterone at your age are “low.”
Or, to be a bit profane yet true for Guys between regular blood draws; consider Tim Ferris’ interview with Dr. Kelly Starrett in The Tools of Titans,
“if you wake up and you don’t have a boner, there’s a problem. Yes or No?”
Don’t become a “T”-dropper! KABOOM.

And, remember that Testosterone is very important for KABOOMER ladies to thrive and strive as well!
I commend to you this blog post about Waist to Hip Ratios (WHR).
Why? Body Mass Indices (BMI) do notcredibly gauge healthy body composition for many Americans – female and male. If you are a muscular, “big boned” KABOOMER – BMI might label you as a statistically overweight or fat person, even though your measired body fat is impressively low!
Most of our body dimensions and ratios shapes are different than Barbie’s hourglass figure or and Ken’s ectomorph physique. Yet – most of us can and should strive to be more “Pear-like” rather than Apple-shaped. Repeat after your Koach: Good Pears, Bad Apples!
Table A1: World Health Organization cut-off points and risk of metabolic complications Indicator Cut-off points Risk of metabolic complications
Waist circumference >94 cm (M); >80 cm (W) Increased
Waist circumference >102 cm (M); >88 cm (W) Substantially increased Waist–hip ratio ≥0.90 cm (M); ≥0.85 cm (W) Substantially increased
M, men; W, women
Assuming that we KABOOMERs want to avoid or mitigate Metabolic Complications from central fat – we must know the risks and work to change our WHRs. Click here to gauge your WHR:
